The Schools Library Service (also referred to as “the SLS”) supports schools in delivering the National Curriculum, improving reading standards and developing a systematic approach to information literacy by providing the loan of high quality and well maintained books through a delivery system which is reliable and effective plus advice and support around reading and management of the school library.
Through links with the School Improvement Service and Library and Information Services, the SLS contributes to CPD and National book events for all schools.
Newly-qualified Teachers - Appropriate Body Service
This service fulfils the Appropriate Body (AB) statutory role for the induction period of Newly Qualified Teachers (NQT). The Appropriate Body has the main quality assurance role within the induction process and makes the final decision as to whether an NQT has met the required standards on the recommendation of the headteacher/principal.

Educational Visits and Outdoor Learning Service
This service provides access to specialist advice, guidance and support (via the designated Educational Visits and Outdoor Learning Officer) regarding the management and leadership of educational visits to help schools meet their legal obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and associated regulations, such as the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, and the Children Act (2004) and to promote and support all forms of learning outside the classroom.
Governor Support Service
The Governor Support Team provide a professional clerking and support service to governing bodies throughout the East Riding. We aim to help raise standards in East Riding schools by providing high quality support, guidance and advice to school governors and governing bodies to help them carry out their duties and responsibilities efficiently and effectively.
The main focus of our service delivery is the clerking of governing body meetings and committee meetings, although a great deal of support and advice is sought and provided outside the parameters of formal meetings. The Service has a central role in providing specialist procedural, regulatory, administrative and organisational support to governing bodies ensuring that they are functioning properly and effectively so that they can demonstrate that they are meeting statutory expectations.
